A taxi from Jerusalem to Modi'in costs from ₪240 by day and covers the 43 km in about 42 minutes, usually via Route 443. From Ben Gurion Airport, Modi'in is far closer: 26 km, roughly 23 minutes, from ₪140. Both figures follow the official Israeli meter tariff in force since 1 April 2026 (regular taxi, up to 4 passengers, pre-booking fee included), and the final price is confirmed at booking. Below: all three tariffs, the Shabbat rules, and how to time an early flight out of Modi'in.
Taxi to Modi'in in 2026: prices at a glance
Modi'in-Maccabim-Re'ut is 43 km from Jerusalem and only 26 km from Ben Gurion Airport — a full intercity run one way, a short hop the other. Every figure below is a starting price for a regular taxi (up to 4 passengers) under the official 2026 meter tariff.
| Route | Distance | Drive time | Tariff A (day) from | Tariff B (night) from | Tariff C (Shabbat/holiday night) from |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Jerusalem → Modi'in | 43 km | ~42 min | ₪240 | ₪270 | ₪310 |
| Modi'in → Jerusalem | 43 km | ~42 min | ₪240 | ₪270 | ₪310 |
| Ben Gurion Airport → Modi'in | 26 km | ~23 min | ₪140 | ₪160 | ₪180 |
| Modi'in → Ben Gurion Airport | 26 km | ~23 min | Priced by the official meter tariff — get an instant price in the calculator | ||
The ₪5.78 pre-booking fee is included above, and the ₪5 departure surcharge applies only when a ride starts at the airport. There is no luggage surcharge and no per-passenger surcharge — both abolished in 2020 — so three cases cost the same as none. Neither route uses the toll roads, Highway 6 or the Carmel Tunnels. Every other route sits on our 2026 price list.
Jerusalem to Modi'in: 43 km via Route 443
The usual road between Jerusalem and Modi'in is Route 443, and on a clear run the drive takes around 42 minutes door to door.
Why the meter cares about traffic
Israeli meters bill distance and time simultaneously, not "whichever is greater" — every kilometre is charged and so is every minute, so a jam costs money as well as patience. On a pre-booked ride the agreed price is the official meter tariff for that date and time, whatever the traffic does. Allow an extra 15–20 minutes in rush hour.
Modi'in to Jerusalem: the same starting price in reverse
The return leg covers the same 43 km in the same rough 42 minutes, so it starts from the same ₪240 by day, ₪270 at night and ₪310 on Shabbat and holiday nights. Jerusalem addresses on this route include Hadassah Ein Kerem, Shaare Zedek and Hadassah Mount Scopus. Almaxpress is intercity only — city-to-city routes, not short hops inside one city. The rest of what we serve from the capital is on our destinations from Jerusalem page.
Ben Gurion Airport to Modi'in: 26 km, about 23 minutes
One of the shortest airport transfers we run: from ₪140 by day, ₪160 at night and ₪180 on Shabbat and holiday nights, for 26 km and roughly 23 minutes.
Every taxi from Ben Gurion Airport with us is a meet-and-greet pickup: your driver waits inside the Terminal 3 arrivals hall holding a sign with your name, takes the trolley and walks you to the car. No rank to queue in, and no conversation about the fare — that was settled at booking.
We track your flight in real time, so a late landing simply moves the pickup: the driver is there when you come out, and the delay does not change the agreed price. Send the flight number, landing time, passengers and suitcases, your address in Modi'in and the name for the sign. If something goes wrong in the terminal, message +972-50-912-2133.
Modi'in to Ben Gurion: when to leave for your flight
The airport is close, so the temptation is to leave late. Resist it — the binding constraint is the check-in clock, not the road: be at Ben Gurion about 3 hours before an international departure.
A worked example: the 06:00 flight
Take-off at 06:00 means being at the terminal by 03:00, so you leave Modi'in at roughly 02:20–02:30. The roads are empty, but the meter still bills per minute. The tariff depends on the day: the tariff "day" runs 06:00 to 05:59, so a 02:20 pickup belongs to the previous evening. Monday to Thursday mornings that is Tariff B (21:01–05:59, Sunday to Wednesday); from 23:01 on Thursday night it is Tariff C, and Friday and Saturday nights follow the Shabbat rules below. For a midday or afternoon flight, keep the three-hour rule and add 15–20 minutes at busy times. Timings from other cities are in our early-morning flight guide and on the taxi to Ben Gurion Airport page.

How the 2026 meter tariff works
Israeli taxi fares are set by government order, not by the driver. The current rates took effect on 1 April 2026 — a 2.8% reduction on 2025, with the next update expected on 1 April 2027. Tariff A, the daytime rate, opens with a flag drop of ₪12.46, then charges ₪1.95 per kilometre for the first 10 km, ₪3.79 beyond that, and ₪1.95 per minute.
Tariff B (night) and Tariff C (Shabbat and holiday nights) raise those components by different amounts — the per-minute and first-10-km rates rise more steeply than the long-distance rate. On an intercity ride such as Jerusalem–Modi'in that is roughly 14% above Tariff A for B and about 28% for C: the gap between ₪240, ₪270 and ₪310.
| Day | Tariff A (day) | Tariff B (night) | Tariff C |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sunday–Wednesday | 06:00–21:00 | 21:01–05:59 | — |
| Thursday | 06:00–21:00 | 21:01–23:00 | 23:01–05:59 |
| Friday & holiday eve | 06:00–16:00 | 16:01–21:00 | 21:01–05:59 |
| Shabbat & holidays | — | 06:00–19:00 | 19:01–05:59 |
The tariff "day" runs 06:00 to 05:59, so a 02:20 Sunday departure is billed under Saturday night's rules. The full arithmetic is in our 2026 meter tariff guide.
Luggage, children and bigger groups
A regular taxi carries up to 4 passengers and up to 3 large suitcases, plus carry-ons at the driver's discretion. With no luggage surcharge in the 2026 tariff, a family with three cases pays the same as one passenger with a laptop bag.
Child seats and boosters are free with Almaxpress when requested in advance: tell us the children's ages and the seats are fitted before the car sets off, which matters at 02:30 with a sleeping toddler. Strollers, folding wheelchairs, medical mobility aids and sports gear travel too — mention them at booking. More in our taxi with kids guide.
Five passengers or more
Five passengers, or four with six suitcases, will not fit in a regular taxi. The fleet also includes a 6-seat large taxi (usually about 6–8 suitcases), a 10-seat van (about 10–12 large cases) and a 19-seat minibus, which takes 19 suitcases and more with a luggage hold. These are quoted individually rather than from a public list: book a 6-seat large taxi, 10-seat van or 19-seat minibus on our large taxi page and we confirm the price within minutes. A vehicle with a wheelchair lift can also be arranged in advance, with notice at booking.
Shabbat, Jewish holidays and Saturday nights
Almaxpress operates 24 hours a day, Sunday to Friday — 24/6. We do not drive on Shabbat or on Jewish holidays, from candle-lighting on the eve until Shabbat or the holiday ends, so a Friday ride should be planned to finish before Shabbat comes in.
Saturday-night rides are pre-booked and depart after Shabbat ends; book before Shabbat begins, because we cannot take bookings during it. Shabbat ends roughly an hour after sunset and the time moves week by week and by season, so check the weekly Havdalah time for your date.
On the meter, the Shabbat and holiday tariff day runs until 05:59 on Sunday, so a Saturday-night ride is charged Tariff B until 19:00 and Tariff C from 19:01. In winter, when Shabbat ends before 19:00, a Jerusalem–Modi'in ride setting off at 18:30 is Tariff B, from ₪270; in summer, when Shabbat ends later, the same ride starts under Tariff C, from ₪310.
The same mechanics apply on Rosh Hashanah (12–13 September 2026), Sukkot (26 September 2026), Simchat Torah (3 October 2026), Pesach (22 and 28 April 2027) and Shavuot (11 June 2027): holiday eves follow the Friday windows, holiday days the Shabbat ones. There is no service at all on Yom Kippur (21 September 2026). More in our guide to taxis on Saturday night and holidays.
Booking, payment and cancellation
Send the pickup address and destination, the date and time, passengers and suitcases, and any special request — a child seat, an extra stop, reduced mobility. For an airport pickup, add the flight number and the name for the sign. Confirmation comes back in writing, and that price holds.
Pay in cash to the driver, by credit card charged in advance by phone or payment link, or by bank transfer or payment app by arrangement; a deposit may be requested. Every ride gets a full tax invoice by email, and companies can receive one consolidated monthly invoice. Cancellation is free more than 24 hours ahead, up to 50% between 24 and 6 hours, and 100% under 6 hours or a no-show — in writing. Details on our terms page; the wider route list on the intercity taxi page.
